HÃ Ná»I â The National Assembly appointed Lt. Gen. Nguyá» n Máº¡nh HÃ¹ng Minister of Information and Communication this morning with 95.05 per cent support.
HÃ¹ng, the former Viettel CEO, was made the acting Minister of Information and Communication in July after an investigation was opened against Mobifoneâs bid to acquireÂ 95 per cent shares of Audio Visual Global (AVG). The investigation later revealed a number of violations made by then-minister TrÆ°Æ¡ng Minh Tuáº¥n and alleged losses to the Stateâs budget of nearly US$300 million.Â
Tuáº¥n was officially stripped of his office yesterday after a decision was passed by a majority of NA deputies.Â
HÃ¹ng, 56, served as Viettelâs CEO since 2014. He became president in 2018 and has played a pioneering role in making Viettel into a telecommunications giant in Viá»t Nam. â VNS
